Have you noticed a small lock next to our domain or a green https? If you haven't, congratulations, you are not as paranoid about web security as we are. But then again, you probably chose or thinking about choosing us precisely because we put your security at the very top of our list. Over this few weeks, we have implemented several security features that soon will become standard in the cyberspace. So let us explain exactly what we did, and why we did it.

SSL

SSL or Secure Sockets Layer is a cryptography protocol that encrypts the transmission of your data throughout the Internet. Data that has been encrypted is more secure and is next to impossible to get stolen. You should only give out personal information to websites that have SSL certificate and have https symbol next to the domain name. This becomes crucial when payments are accepted online. You should never give out your credit card information to the website that does not have SSL enabled on their website. Often websites choose to utilize https only on the payment pages, which is completely fine. However, we went one step forward and encrypted all our communications. This means higher security for you as a customer. Since, all your browsing experience is completely encrypted and, therefore, less vulnerable to hackers and privacy intruders.

Symantec Safe Site Seal

You will find a small seal provided to us by Symantec at the bottom of the page. You probably already know who Symantec is, as they probably already provide you with an anti-virus. So what does this little seal do? It shows that we are who we say we are. And that our website is free from malware and is safe to visit. It also means that we are regularly scanned by Symantec to make sure we haven't caught a bug from some malware bot.

HSTS

As part of our website security, we also utilize something called HSTS or HTTP Strict Transport Security. It tells your web browser to always connect to our website using a secured connection. This web security feature prevents hackers from perpetrating a man-in-the-middle attacks, where a hacker would impersonate a legitimate website at the point of entry and steal valuable data. HSTS is the latest thing in web security and is supported by most modern browsers.

File Encryption

Now that we have covered security on our website, let us say a few words about how we protect data that we already have. All customer data is kept encrypted on our servers. Our IT department treats your privacy and security with utmost respect and care.

GPG Encryption

This part is for fellow security nuts. If you are not one of them you can safely skip right ahead to the conclusion. We support and understand recent privacy concerns. For your convenience and peace of mind, please find our GPG public key here.

So why are we sharing all this information with you? You might ask. The reason is quite simple. We want our customers to utilize similar online and on-site security features to prevent unnecessary headaches and save money. Every potential security breach in your place of business unleashes an avalanche of scrutiny starting from your payment provider and ending with the government. It also raises cost of doing business through credit card processing fees increases. On top of that, it erodes customer trust. Security enhancements are a little costly and annoying, but absence of them could lead to devastating consequences.
