Retail and Restaurant Point of Sale Systems SHA-256 Credit Card Processors Deadlines

Credit card processing companies along with the information technology industry begin migration to SHA-2 (Secure Hash Algorithm) or TLS 1.2 (Transport Layer Security). This move is mandatory, as it creates a more secure IT infrastructure. For retail and restaurant business owners using a POS System, this means that their POS Systems need to be updated to comply with SHA-256/TLS. Otherwise merchants risk no being able to accept credit cards through their Point of Sale.

Each credit card processing company has established their own deadlines for the adoption of SHA-2.
Please note that the list below is not an official guide and dates are subject to change. We advise to contact your credit card processor for official dates.

12/28/16 - First Data Datawire Payment Gateway
12/31/16 - Global Payments
01/17/17 - TSYS
05/31/17 - Chase Paymentech

For Aldelo POS customers to ensure credit card processing past these deadlines, the following requirements must be met:
1). Aldelo for Restaurants Pro must be version 3.8 Rev 5000 or later
2). Aldelo EDC must be Version 7.0.6123.653
3). Operating system must be Windows 7 or later and Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.

For pcAmerica POS customers to ensure credit card processing past these deadlines, the following requirements must be met:
1). pcAmerica must be version 12.7 or later
2). Operating system must be Windows 7 or later and Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.
